Even though I know it's a mixture of a love for reading and the desire to delay going to bed as long as physically possible, at least one or three of the kids and I usually end up reading four or five stories a night.
It's simple, you see. Just the idea of raising four kids who love reading as much as I do fills me with a joy I can't describe. I can see it happening and I know that in a few years time, they'll be hooked like me. It will be 3am and the light will still be dimly lit and the book closing in their hands while their eyes shake with sleep. They won't be able to eat breakfast cereal without a book in front of them. Break time from work will include sneaking a few pages in. They'll get so involved in the story that they will take each word to heart and look forward to cracking that spine and catching up on the character who has come to mean so much.
It's all that.
I just can't resist hearing "Please Mommy. One more story."
