So how do you feel about soccer?
Tonight, Alex put his head on his pillow and asked me the same question he had asked since February.
"How many more days until I play soccer, Mommy?"
Finally, I was able to say "None, Buddy. It's tomorrow. After school and after supper you finally get to put on your jersery and your cleats and your shin pads and play."
He hugged me intensely and said "I just can't wait!"
If that doesn't melt your heart into a ball of insane adorableness, you're dead inside.
Soccer season is upon us again and that means we're on fields 6 days a week. Besides cheering and playing, I'm coaching again. All winter long you'll hear me lament about how much I dread it, but really, when I get out on that field and have the attention of twenty or so eager girls, I soar. When I drop kick a ball across the field or show them how to dribble with your foot twenty times in a row and they say "COOL!", it's all worth it. When your kid, or someone else's kid for that matter, scores or blocks a hard shot, I realize soccer is in my bones and it won't let go.
Thank God.
Bring it on.

Happy Soccer Season!

The folding chairs, umbrella and bug spray are now in the trunk of the car for the summer. The bag of books and colouring paraphernalia to keep Rachel occupied during Leah's practices and games and vice versa for Rae's practices and games is packed and lives in the front hall so the water bottles can be dropped into it as we head out the door. The list of team-mate's phone numbers are by the phone for those cases where conflicting schedules would have me be in two places at one time with the girls....Yup. It's soccer season again. And despite my grumbling, I'm loving it too.
