Biography

I am a Canadian Mom to four kids whom I talk about often. Kristyn was born in 1996, Erin in 1998, Meghan in 2001 and Alexander in 2003.

In July 2005 our family traded Suburban life for the wilds of Eastern Ontario. We've settled just outside a small town in Almonte, Ontario and live on a farm that we're not yet sure what to do with.

I swear and curse way too much. I've tried to curb it here in my writing, but to hear me in person is probably quite a bit of profanity to handle! I obey the wash rules on clothing for about a month but sooner or later, everything ends up in the same load. I never iron. I hate emptying the dishwasher, so I had kids to do it for me.

I've given birth at home, used cloth diapers and was pregnant or breastfeeding for 8 years. When Alex weaned I had a giant NyQuil and booze party. I know find myself taking cold medicine for any sniffle. Just cause I can.

I'm a runner. triathlete and soccer player. I play on a Ladies Masters team and we kick ass, if I do say so myself. I also coach and yell from the sidelines. I am one of "those" parents.

In February 2007, our son Alex spent his fourth birthday at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario. He was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease and spent six days undergoing treatment, including Intravenous Immunoglobulin. It was the scariest six days of my life. As of April 2007, Alex has no lasting coronary artery damage and has been given a clean bill of health. We go back to CHEO in one year, but the cardiologist does not anticipate any issues to come up. For the first time since that week, I'm sleeping all night long and not in his room checking his heartbeat every chance I get.
